Indie Bridal Editorial with Eco Conscious Brand Rolling In Roses

Editorial Make Up Artist Victoria Farr

Rolling In Roses Sappho Collection with Zach & Grace Films

I love working as a Bridal Make Up Artist. But when I’m asked to join a creative team to collaborate on an editorial collection that will literally blow my socks off! Well, I’m all in!

My Creative Vibe

Each creative I meet in whatever they do has their own unique style. It’s the stuff that gets them out of bed every damn day and ignites a fire in their belly and if it pays the bills then it’s also a win. When working with brands, I’m so chuffed they appreciate my own creative style to bring together the full collaboration in line with their vision.

I believe these kind of projects cross over to my bridal clients too! Based on the style I like to create for my clients. You know the ones, nothing too heavy with the bridal make up and a natural vibe to hair stying. Plus, no-one wants to fall victim from the latest YouTube fad either!

My style is a little bit cool, non traditional, a little bit effortless and I take this into a lot of my bridal work.

Plus! There’s no ‘one size fits all’, as each gorgeous face is unique to the next, oozing their own individual style!

Ethical and Sustainable Bridal-Wear

So, back to the project! I’ve known Hayley from Rolling In Roses for several years (who is also celebrating 10 years in business, like myself in 2021) and I freakin’ LOVE her creative take on bridal wear. It’s so fresh and inspiring. Hayley’s high end craftsmanship in the for eco friendly and sustainable fashion area is her passion. You you can see it in every element of her designs.

‘Individuals who walk to the beat of their own drum’

The new Sappho Collection is incredible and Hayley’s inspiration is the Greek poet Sappho. A fiercely passionate woman who’s words still shine bright two and half thousand years later. You can see the love that’s involved in creating this collection and the attention to detail that Hayley gives. Those who who purchase this collection will receive a gold letter press poem on the inspiration for the design. How lovely is that?!

I ADORE this collection for many reasons! How each design is unique and unlike anything else I’ve seen in bridal wear, the way the fabrics move and feel (yes I am tactile!) and how wearable it is! Love it, love it, LOVE IT!

Editorial Collaboration

This was the first time I had the pleasure of meeting Zach and Grace. With a socially distanced high five, complete in PPE over a cuppa and an M&S chocolate biscuit. With an incredible eye for detail and so much work in a fashion and editorial sense, I was very excited to be joining them, for what was to be an epic photoshoot.

The brief was short and as always, I appreciate Hayley trusting my creative input on the make up and hair styling. I begin to take some ideas from the initial brief. However the magic really happens when I see everything in the flesh! My style is very much ‘less is more’ in many ways.

As this was an editorial piece, I wanted there to be a fashion edge to the look, which is very Rolling in Roses vibe. I could not be happier with how it looked on camera. A ‘worn in’ eye make up look, with gorgeous skin that showed texture and those gorgeous freckles.

It’s super important for me when working with brands that the main focus is ALWAYS on the designs. As well as taking into account the accessories and backdrops, the time of day (with and without flash) and also our models unique look. It’s all gotta come together right!

The Detail

Despite this being a very stripped back photoshoot, it’s amazing to see how each element was absolutely spot on!

The accessory pieces from Ashley Wild Bridal were to die for!!! Not to mention the shoes from Freya Rose London and yes I want those boots!!

This was the first time I have seen the insane work of Ginger & Flynn who’s paper flower creations were incredible. I’ve never seen anything like it and so so beautiful. Please do check them out!

Moonwind Flowers delicate ethical and organic dried arrangements were perfect and it was beautiful how everything came together.

10 years on, that creative spark still shines and I feel so damn lucky I get to call this work!
