They say time flies when you’re having fun. So when Facebook memories popped up with ‘7 years ago today’ I remember like it was yesterday!
I’d just checked into Manchester airport to board a flight to Paris. First destination client, first time to Paris and I was hooked!
I’d been in business just under a year and my plan of ’10 weddings a year’ was well under way. The extra income would contribute towards an extra holiday or changing my car sooner. I’d worked my back side off networking with suppliers and venues, exhibiting at wedding fayres all over Yorkshire and advertising on wedding blogs internationally. This was before Instagram took off and Facebook was king. I was still working my 40 hour plus day job in financial planning, taking holiday days to work on photoshoots and weddings.
Life was busy but so very exciting! I was living the dream. I was happy.
As I entered the second year of business, my original plan of 10 weddings escalated to 40 that year. The rollercoaster was in full flow!
Destination Weddings in France & Italy
Fast forward to 2019 and destination weddings are very much part of my wedding schedule. Working with a select number of brides who are getting married in France or Italy. These brides are from all over the world and choosing to have their wedding day in Europe!
Destination weddings are precious. Unique and memorable, just like UK weddings. However, organising a wedding overseas takes a slightly different approach. If you don’t speak the language and you’ve not hired a local wedding planner, things can get a little stressful. This is where I come in!
I’ve got so many destination weddings under my make-up belt, I’d say I’m pretty au fait with how this all runs, a pro in fact. You don’t need to organise my travel arrangements or worry about my kit arriving, all you need to know is that I’ll be with you on your wedding day and I’ll do the rest. Whizzing around the French countryside, I’m in my element. I’m born to do this, it’s in my blood!
So as I sit here in my lovely chambre d’hote in the gorgeous Dordogne region; La Maison Louverie, I’m feeling very grateful to all those amazing brides who have trusted me to travel overseas for their weddings.
Also, if you are ever in this part of the world, please get in touch with hosts Wulf and Adeline. Their hospitality and delicious breakfasts are first class! Not to mention they are bloody lovely people and their two dogs; Pitou and Jesse will make you feel most welcome too.
With much love

Whilst I know that we have all had some low times this year, and we’re not out of the woods just yet, I wanted to make sure I took the time to reflect on what went down and what I’m grateful for, cos that’s the kinda girl I am!
