Summer Facial Sunscreens – the journey continues
Summer Facial Sunscreens
Make Up Artist Victoria Farr
Hello my loves! Summer is most definitely here, school holidays are just around the corner and my hunt summer facial sunscreens continue.
Summer facial sunscreens
In my last post I showcased my love for the brilliant Dr Sam’s Flawless Daily Sunscreen. If you read the post you’ll know how much I really love this sunscreen. It ticks all the boxes I want plus there are some skincare properties in it too – win! Sadly I don’t think my gals/guys who like a matt or less moisturising sunscreen will be a fan.
Always wanting to help my lovely clients and followers, my quest to showcase the variety of sunscreens for all skin types continues.
Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense
After a pit stop at my local I decided to take trip to Space NK in Beverley. Chatting to one of the very helpful staff, I purchased the Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense. I’m always looking for something that is in the SPF 50 range, as my 40 year old face ain’t getting any younger and I’m sun sensitive – AKA burn in the sun!
Plus I’m using an acid toner regularly, so I need to keep that SPF to a maximum.
- Armed with SPF 50, giving high protection against UVA and UVB and it’s a broad spectrum sunscreen – YAY!
- It’s fragrance free and non comedogenic and suitable for those who have troubled skin and prone to outbreaks.
- Light weight formula
- Absorbs quickly
- Invisible finish
As you know, I’m a dehydrated skin girl, so anything that is for oily skin doesn’t sit quite well and I need to feel that moisture. I applied my normal morning skincare routine and waited a few mins, then went in with the sunscreen.
It’s a light consistency I applied one ‘coat’ which was around a pea size and then added another ‘coat’. Unlike Dr Sam’s sunscreen, there are no guidelines as to how much to use in order to get the maximum protection. So I did 2 applications and hope that I have the full protection.
It glided onto the skin really well, didn’t feel thick and absorbed quickly. It gave a fresh dewy look to the skin without it feeling sticky, which was a very pleasant surprise!
If you’ve seen my IGTV review for this, you can see how my make up was applied. I was really pleased with how the make up looked over the sunscreen and here’s a snap of it too.
Normal to Oily Skin
Towards the end of the day, I reckon a good 8/9 hours later, i had a slight shine, which was no big issue for me. I don’t use powder over the top of my make up, so this could have made it last a little longer without any natural oils coming through. For those who are prone to shine through the day, a powder maybe helpful too!
I’ve not sunbathed with this product yet, but I’m looking forward to testing this out later this month when I head to Paris for work. I have some time to explore so will be spending some time outside, wandering the lovely gardens and absorbing that all important Vitamin D!
Its priced at £28 for the 30ml and £38 for the 60ml bottle.
I’m unable to say how long this will last.
But if you fancy giving it a try – you can purchase your here via Space NK – don’t forget to subscribe and earn your Ndulge rewards on your purchasing.
